Currently marching through Brixton is the #Baltimore to #Brixton Solidarity Protest March, organised by the London Black Revs and Our Brixton.
The modest but loud and passionate march assembled outside the Barrier Block on Coldharbour Lane and marched around the Moorlands Estate before heading back along Coldharbour Lane into central Brixton.
Billed as a “political, community-neighbourhood organised protest”, the march is a response to continued police racism and brutality around the world, with the recent death in custody of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old African American in Baltimore proving a catalyst.
The protest will also include speakers from from “Black Power struggles of the of the 60’s and 70’s in Brixton, London Black Revs, family members of those who have been killed in police custody, the UHURU movement and from Latin American solidarity groups”.
